Dickinson goes Digital

As the world adapted to limited travel in March 2020, Dickinson London Gallery expanded their virtual initiatives and digital communications channels in response to the COVD-19 pandemic. Branch Arts advised Dickinson throughout the development of these digital initiatives, which enabled Dickinson to keep in touch with their clients as well as the wider international art community.

‘Although nothing will replicate the importance and pleasure of seeing great artwork in the flesh, we hope our online initiatives will provide our clients with an avenue to engage with the work we are offering for sale as well access to our team’s extensive knowledge and expertise.’

- Emma Ward, Managing Director

Throughout 2020, Dickinson constantly adapted to put on a series of online exhibitions, commencing with 20 under 20 (6 – 30 April) which took the form of a charity online exhibition, featuring 20 works from old master and 19th century departments, all offered under £20,000. Dickinson donated 20% of profits from the sale of works to the NHS COVID-19 Emergency Appeal in Britain.

Other digital exhibitions of 2020 included The Days of the Week (30 April – 29 May) featuring 20th and 21st century works; Startling Relief (29 February – 29 May) featuring artists such as Lygia Clark, George Condo and Richard Diebenkorn; Cubism: ‘Petits Cubes’ (9 July – 23 July) including Picasso and Juan Gris; Shared Horizon: Celebrating artists’ travels (9 July – 23 July).

Dickinson Gallery exhibited at a variety of virtual Art Fairs in 2020, including Masterpiece and ArtCity. In October, Dickinson’s exhibition Spectrum at Frieze Viewing Room was certainly a highlight.
