Douglas Tausik Ryder | Your Myth Here

We loved working with American artist, Douglas Tausik Ryder on the presentation of his latest body of works, Your Myth Here. These five large format sculptures explore the psychological and social effects of mass media. Created with machine tools and traditional woodworking techniques in his Chipping Norton studio, Tausik Ryder uses industrial processes for exploring art as mirror for the effect of the machine on our psyches.

Alongside introductions and communications consultancy, we’re excited to share this film by Guy Loftus produced to celebrate Tausik Ryder’s LA exhibition opening of Your Myth Here.

Tausik Ryder explores our unconscious but, total immersion in mass media. Like a fish not noticing the water until its beached, we are not fully aware of the effects mass media has on us.

Inspired by traditional subjects, these wood and collage figures have been hollowed to show their conventional meaning is lost. The hollow is filled with a mosaic of AI generated images. The use of AI, itself a comment on the way mass media is being controlled by artificial intelligence.

We’ve loved advocating Douglas’ work and coordinating this wonderful interpretative film by Guy Loftus from Studiofuture.co.
