Celebrating World of Interiors

In Autumn 2020, Branch Arts celebrated the best of interiors in the art world, with two special features in World of Interiors.

This September, Kate Daudy’s Victorian Terraced house in London was featured by Charlotte Edwards. Showcasing Kate Daudy’s multicoloured felt letters that fill her home alongside spherical paper shades, books in scarlet backed cases and large framed artworks. ‘A sense of stability and colour and possibility and unconditional welcome is what Kate hopes the house offer her offspring.’

"Whether her writings convey a single word, a passing thought, a scientific formula or a philosophical adage, they reach after ideas that can’t be so easily stuck down"

In a tribute to the life of Karsten Schubert, Charles Darwent wrote about the art gallerist and collector’s London flat in the October issue of World of Interiors.

“After Karsten Schubert’s life was tragically cut short last year he left behind a beautifully composed collection of artworks in his London flat. There, against the most muted decor, ancient and modern were held in clever counterpoint, with Roman statuary, contemporary pieces and early Mondrians all harmoniously rubbing shoulders.”

Ceramics and studio pottery shares a unique relationship with interiors, offering an exciting dimension and sculptural element to a room. This is why ceramics auction house, Maak, has joined the World of Interiors Index, to build their consultancy for interior designers and architects.

"The vast majority of our clients, both buyers and sellers, are private collectors with whom we love nothing more than sharing our enthusiasm for studio pots. As such we aim to offer a personal and all-inclusive service whether that is selling individual works or entire collections through our auctions, helping collectors source works and broker private sales or providing valuation services."
