Aurora marks a return to the UK for Los Angeles-based artist Tobias Keene and his monumental and miniature paintings. Branch Arts have been delighted to work with Robbi Chong and Amadea West to co-produce this, the inaugural exhibition for Keene in the heart of the Cotswolds. The exhibition represents a collection of paintings inspired by his life in LA, by the light, experiences and subjects he has encountered.

Collaborations and partnerships lie at the heart of the Branch Arts ethos. Building on our reputation for launching exhibitions in often spectacular, architecturally-interesting spaces, this exhibition was launched in the wonderful and majestic barn belonging to the renowned Cotswolds-based musician Alex James (of Blur). The opening brought together loyal long-term supporters of Tobias’s, many of whom came over especially from LA, as well as a wide range of other collectors and friends.

By popular demand, the exhibition has now been extended and relocated to DW Gallery in Charlbury, a newly refurbished space. We will be co-hosting a further private view for those who haven’t seen the show on Friday August 3rd. The exhibition is open by appointment daily from 1st July through to 8th August.

Tobias Keene is a third-generation painter born in the Cotswolds. His father was the renowned painter Arthur Keene and his grandfather was a WWII artist who painted under the name of Van Art. Since moving to LA, Tobias has built a fantastic client base and has appeared in numerous solo and group exhibitions, in both the Los Angeles and New York galleries of Earl McGrath as well the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles and Christies in Beverly Hills. In 2013 the Trout Museum of Art in Wisconsin, USA held a major retrospective of Keene’s paintings, along with those of his father and his grandfather.

Collectors who have acquired his paintings include Wallis Annenberg, Robert Downey Jr, Tobey Maguire, Tommy Chong, Bill Wyman, Viscount Althorp, Ahmet and Mica Ertegun and Brett and Carol Cheng-Mayer, amongst others.
