BRANCH OUT INITIATES NEW PARTNERSHIPS AND SECURES MEDIA COVERAGE WITH AN ESTIMATED READERSHIP VALUE OF 370K
2018 really was a special year for the London Original Print Fair, London’s oldest art fair. I’ve been involved with the Fair in some capacity since 2001, and through it have grown my knowledge and understanding of the unique integrity of the print world. LOPF hosts some of the world’s most esteemed printmakers - both artists and master printers. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming and having worked with the fair so long, each year is like being reunited with an old friend.
In collaboration with PR Consultant Alison Wright, we were responsible for the Fair’s communications strategy. This year we were delighted to initiate partnerships with Nicky Carter and Groucho Club; Zetter Townhouse and Paupers Press; The Arts Society; CCA’s Art Bus with Gavin Turk and once again re-affirm the relationship between LOPF and The Royal Academy.
Personal highlights of the Fair have to be the inspiring conversations with dealers; printmakers and artists. Norman Ackroyd RA, Chris Orr RA, Peter Blake, Yinka Shonibare MBE RA, Emma Alcock to name a few, all remind one of the expertise and passion behind the medium. The wide cross-section of techniques, ages and styles on offer at the Fair makes it a great place to refine one’s own taste and explore that of others. We have earmarked a number of prints that will transform and cheer up some of our clients’ offices and homes.
This year, the exhibitors all commented on the new swathe of younger collectors coming to LOPF to buy. With an intelligent and discerning eye, significant sales were made of Old Masters; Modern as well as new editions by contemporary artists. I particularly enjoyed one story of a couple changing their contemporary collecting habits to buy a Goya. The same dealer told of a lady buying a Braque for its modern aesthetic unaware of the modern master’s reputation and brilliance.
It is great to be involved with a project that gives us so much pleasure, and to be a ‘number one fan’ of your own client. I can’t recommend more highly an annual visit to LOPF, a fair which has been around already for 33 years and we hope will be around for at least another 33!
