Alf Löhr

Alf Löhr’s abstract paintings orchestrate on mostly large canvases a complex interaction between colour, form and pictorial space. He works with many layers of paint on paper or canvas, mostly translucent which in the process of painting are sometimes removed again and replaced by new ones. The entire chronology of his working process remains visible through the formations of overlapping, translucent layers of paint.

Charity Focus

As part of Branch Art’s commitment to supporting good causes through sales, 10% will be donated to Amnesty International, a charity that embodies Löhr’s drive to tackle inequality and fight for human rights. Amnesty International helped Löhr shape his understanding of the world as a teenager, learning it was not enough to succeed in a system but that you should see how you can improve it. A sentiment that resonates in his artworks and projects today.
